privacy

This is the family-wide policy for everything KOTOPIA makes. It says what we collect, what we never do, and how to get your data out. Plain language, no traps.

who we are

KOTOPIA INC, a company based in Jamestown, North Carolina, USA. You can reach a human at support@kotopia.world.

what this covers

This policy covers the KOTOPIA family: this site (kotopia.world), Kaimoji (the app and kaimoji.app), KAIOS, and the other things we make.

Some products also have their own privacy page with the specifics for that product. Where a product page is more specific, it governs for that product, and this page is the floor everything sits on. Kaimoji's page is at kaimoji.app/privacy.

the short version

this site

kotopia.world is a world to wander around in. There is no account and no login here, and we do not run analytics or ad scripts on it.

Two things happen anyway, because they have to: our host keeps standard server logs, which include your IP address, and the island art and text load from our CMS, whose image CDN sees the request that fetches them. That is the whole of it.

accounts

Where a product has accounts, they are optional. Without one, your data stays on your device.

If you sign in, we store your email and the things the product needs to be itself: your favorites, your progress, your XP. Sign-in is with Apple or with a code sent to your email. We do not use passwords, so there is no password of yours for us to lose.

If you sign in with Apple and use Apple's private relay, we only ever see the relay address. Your real address stays with Apple, and that works fine here. We never ask Apple for your name.

ai features

Where a product generates something for you, what you give it is sent to an AI provider to produce the output, and the output comes back to you. We do not store what you sent. These features are rate-limited, which means we briefly process your IP address to count requests when you are not signed in.

payments

On iOS, Apple handles payment. On the web, Stripe handles payment. Your card details go to them, never to us. We never see or store a card number.

who else touches your data

We keep the list short on purpose. These companies process data on our behalf, to do a specific job, and nothing else:

We may also share data if the law actually requires it, which has not happened, and if it ever does we will say so where we are allowed to.

your data, out and gone

Products with accounts let you export your data and delete your account from inside the product. Deletion is immediate and permanent, and it removes your sign-in, your email, and your profile from our servers.

One thing to know: anything you published on purpose, like a kaimoji you contributed to a public library, stays public and is detached from you. Your account is anonymized, not your contributions erased. If you want something you published taken down as well, ask us before you delete it, while we can still tell it is yours.

Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you, ask for a copy, or ask us to delete it. Write to support@kotopia.world and a person will answer.

children

Our products are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us something, write to us and we will remove it.

changes

If we change this policy we will post the updated page with a new date at the top. If a change actually matters to you, we will do more than quietly change the date.
